Obituary for Robert "Bob" Vermillion

Robert (Bob) Harris Vermillion, 83, Seneca, MO passed away February 21, 2014. Bob was born January 24, 1931. Son of Aaron and Orpha Jane Vermillion, he was a life long Seneca resident.  Bob was married to Dixie Box on March 19, 1955. She preceded him in death in 1985.  Surviving children include: Bob and Jeana Vermillion, Greg and Jo Ellen Sitton.  Grandchildren include: Caleb, Canaan and Ashylnn, Shiloh and Bethany Vermillion, Lance and Grace, Heath and Callie Sitton. Great grandchildren: Jairus Vermillion and Dublynn Sitton and expected in April, Kingston Sitton. Elijah Sitton preceded him in death.  On June 8, 1986, Bob married Arpie Denney Partain.  She survives.  Step children are Chalice Zuvekas and Patrick Dugan, Teresa Partain, and Andrea Buening.  Harvey Partain preceded him in death.  Grandchildren include: Daniel Barrera, Alex Coachman, Lauren and Matt Saboski, Samual and Sonda Buening, and Bryan and Tammy Partain.  Great Grandchildren: Kitana Partain, Kaidyn Brown, Fletcher Soboski, Nathan and Gavin Buening.  Siblings that preceded him in death are brother Bayred Vermillion and sister Elena Jo Latchaw.  Sister Sara King New survives.  Bob graduated from Seneca High in 1949, entered the Air Force where he served during the Korean war as an air medic.  He attended Southwest Baptist College obtaining an associate degree and completed a bachelors degree from Kansas Teachers College in Pittsburg.  Bob taught History at Duenweg 1959-1961, Seneca Jr. High 1962-1967 and Seneca High 1967-1987 where he retired.  Bob surrendered to the ministry and was ordained in 1958.  He pastored many area churches including Racine Baptist, Van Buren Baptist, Warrens Branch Baptist, Hart Baptist Church and Hilldale Baptist.  His special ministry involved mission work in Mexico where he led mission teams, taught pastors and raised funds to spread the gospel.  Bob was fluent in Spanish.  Bob was a fox hunter, cattleman, hunter, fisherman, bus driver and enjoyed all sports, especially watching his grandchildren.  He was a member of the Missouri Big Bucks club.  Family visitation will be held at Seneca First Baptist on Monday 6-7 pm.  Funeral services are Tuesday at Seneca First Baptist at 10am.  Burial at Swars Prairie Baptist cemetery. Arrangements under the direction of Campbell-Biddlecome Funeral Home, Seneca.   In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Bob Vermillion Mexico mission in care of Campbell Biddlecome Funeral Home PO Box 380, Seneca, MO 64865.
