Joan Lea Griffin (74) passed on October 8, 2019. Joan was born January 29, 1945, the youngest daughter of Oscar W. “O. W” and Easter “Mae” (Harrison) Griffin. Joan graduated from Wyandotte High School and attended business school, after which she worked for over 35 years in the business office of then Baptist Hospital in Grove, OK. She later worked in the accounting office and cash cage for Grand Lake Casino and Bordertown Casino. However, her passion was working and serving in her church at Sycamore Chapel United Methodist Church. She was the church pianist at Sycamore Chapel for 55 years. She also played regularly for many years at Wyandotte United Methodist Church as well as other churches and senior citizen halls in the community. There was hardly a hymn she could not play by heart or in any tempo. Joan cared for her parents faithfully until they passed on the home farm. Joan loved her many friends and relatives. To hear her talk, almost everyone was a cousin.

Joan Griffin is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Lela Mae Griffin; and brother, O. “Curtis” Griffin. She is survived by two nephews, Steve (Lela) Griffin; and Stan (Candy) Griffin and niece, Jana (Allen) Ree. She is also survived by several great-nephews and great-nieces and oh those many cousins and friends.

The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, October 13, 2019 at the Campbell-Biddlecome Funeral Home, Seneca, MO.

A celebration service to honor the life of Joan Griffin will be held at Sycamore Chapel United Methodist Church, Monday, October 14, 2019 at 10 a.m. with Rev Jon Bates officiating. She will be interned at Council House Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to Sycamore Chapel United Methodist Church, 67102 E 160 Rd, Wyandotte, OK 74370 in Joan’s name for a memorial.
