Joan Boyd

Miss Joan Boyd, 83, departed this earthly life on Oct. 16th 2019 after a courageous battle with cancer. She left behind to morn her passing: her brother, Dr. Donald Boyd and his wife Sharon, her niece LeeAnn and husband Aaron Reed, her nephew Preston Boyd and wife Chelsea and a host of other relatives and friends.

She was a graduate of Seneca high school, Joplin Jr College, and Southwest Missouri State University (now Missouri State University). She resided in Joplin for 60 years and taught elementary school in the Joplin Public Schools before retiring.

Joan touched many lives with her gracious spirit of caring and was always quick to recognize the needs and feelings of others. She regularly volunteered her services to various individuals and organizations up until her death. Prior to her move to Arkansas, to be nearer family, she was a dedicated and active member of the Blendville Christian Church in Joplin.

Memorial gatherings will be conducted at later dates. In lieu of flowers anyone wishing to memorialize Joan is encouraged to make a donation in her honor to the Showme Christian Youth Home, LaMont, MO. or the American Cancer Society.
