Obituary for Jerry L. Dry

Jerry L. Dry, age 77, passed away on July 8, 2018 at his home, following a 6 week battle with cancer. Jerry was born in West Seneca, OK to Hubert Dry and Leona (McKibben) Dry. Jerry married Nancy (Rhatigan) Dry of Seneca, Missouri on November 6, 1979 in Miami, OK. He was preceded in death by his parents. Jerry served in the US Navy from 1959-1961 on the USS Phillip. He was a motion picture sound man in Kansas City from 1965-1974. In 1974, he became a real estate broker and managed an office in Kansas City. He opened Jerry Dry Real Estate in Seneca in 1983. He was elected president of the Newton County Board of Realtors in 1987 and served on the board of directors for the next 5 years. Jerry was Realtor of the Year in 1987. He also served on the board of directors of Lost Creek Manor from 1991-1998. He served on the Seneca Cemetery Board. He was president of the Seneca Chamber of Commerce in 1990 and was also Citizen of the Year in 1992. After retiring from real estate, he and his wife Nancy started delivering the Joplin Globe. Jerry delivered the Globe, never missing a day, up until May 25, 2018, when he became ill.Jerry was kind hearted and never met a stranger. He loved cooking for his family. If you were at his house, you never left hungry. He was an avid collector of antique phonographs, but his favorite pastime was spending time with his grandson, Andre. Survivors include his wife Nancy Dry; one son Troy Dry, Seneca: one daughter Debbie Dry, Joplin; one grandson Andre Dry, Seneca; one sister, Kathy Park, Blue Springs, MO and a host of extended family and friends. Graveside services for Jerry Dry will be held on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Swars Prairie Baptist Church cemetery with Jarel Burnside officiating. Lunch will follow at the church.  The casket will remain closed at all times.  Arrangements under the direction of Campbell-Biddlecome Funeral Home, Seneca, MO.
