Obituary for Jack Anderson (Fred)

Jack “Fred” C. Anderson
Fred completed his last race here on earth on November 24, 2016, after almost a four year positive and courageous battle with cancer. He was born November 6, 1950 to Jack and Willanna (Chase) Anderson. He lived in Seneca throughout most of his life and graduated from Seneca High School. He obtained college degrees in Drafting and Design, Journalism, Broadcasting, and Dietetics. He worked in Nutrition Education, TV & Radio, Programming director with Operation Enterprise, roofing, DJ, and retired from Milnot in Seneca after 20 years as a Lab Technician in 2013. He was a very talented and intelligent man with diverse interests, very athletic, and always had a great sense of humor. Fred enjoyed running, swimming in his pool, listening to music, painting, gardening, coin collecting, rock laying, collecting St. Louis Cardinal’s memorabilia, watching & listening to his beloved St. Louis Cardinals, supporting Seneca Indians sports, and coaching & watching his daughter Summer’s sports and activities.      Fred was a Sergeant first class in the Army during the Vietnam War at the Pentagon and in SE Asia. He served as Communications Officer with the Army Chief of Staff Intelligence. Along with other medals, he received the Army Meritorious Special Service Commendation Medal for tour of duty in Korea, Cambodia and Laos, which he took great pride in being presented to him by General Omar Bradley.   Fred married Charlene (Yust) Anderson on September 12, 1996 and recently celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary. He attended St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Seneca. He is survived by his wife Charlene; daughter Summer of the home; son Zack Anderson of Blue Springs, M0; daughter Jennifer Jones and husband Dan and three grandchildren of Joplin, MO; brother Terry Anderson and wife Cathy of Bradenton, FL; sister Susan McDonald and husband Terry of Fairhope, AL; and numerous nieces & nephews, in-laws, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and special cousin Sammie Mailes.      Fred was a wonderful and devoted husband, father, brother, and uncle who loved life and being with family and friends. Special thanks to all of his doctors and staff at Joplin Freeman, Tulsa Cyberknife, and Avalon Hospice Care.  In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to Summer Anderson Or Charlene Anderson for Summer's education (place in memo line Summer's Education).  Memorial contributions can be sent to Campbell Funeral Home at P.O. Box 380, Seneca, MO 64865 or Community Bank and Trust in Seneca, or to the Cancer charity of your choice.    Visitation for Fred will be held at the Campbell Funeral Home on Thursday, December 1, 2016, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.  Graveside services with Military Rites will be at the Seneca Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. on December 2, 2016.     The body has been taken for cremation.
