Obituary for Donald Max Hansan

Donald Max Hansen, 94, of Seneca, Missouri passed away at 7:56 AM on April 24th, 2017. Max was born in Neosho, MO February 5th, 1923 to Carl Theodore and Hazel Atkins Hansen. At the age of two, the family moved to Chanute, KS where they resided during the Great Depression. After the death of his father in 1938, they returned to Seneca where he has resided since.Max served in the Navy from 1942-1945 (WWII) as a radio operator and then again from 1951-1952 (Korean War).Max worked as a very entertaining auctioneer for 55 years, 1949-2004, mostly in Southwest Missouri and Northeast Oklahoma.He married Nadine Devine on October 10, 1981. She survives. Also surviving are two children, Doug Hansen and wife Melladean of Joplin, MO. Lori Onstot and husband Jim of Joplin, MO. One sister, Mary Paul Cheney of Daphne, AL and a brother Carl Hansen of Anacortes, WA  Grandchildren Ty Sams and wife Heather, Rogers, AR, Melania Powell, Fayetteville, AR, Rorie Hansen and wife Shawna, Neosho, MO, Blake Onstot and wife Stephanie, Joplin, MO and Shaye Meissen and husband Craig, Woodland Park, CO. Also, seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Robert Hansen. Max was a Christian and attended First Baptist Church, Wyandotte, OK. He also had several Mennonite friends and attended services occasionally with some of their congregations which he greatly enjoyed.  The family would like to thank the staff at Freeman Hospital and the Cancer Center for his excellent care. A very special thank you goes to Dr. Arisa Hassan for her never ending searching for ways to extend his life with dignity. She was successful in doing this and we are forever grateful for you and the extra time you gave us with him.  Services will be held Saturday, April 29th at 10:00 AM at the Seneca First Baptist Church under the direction of Campbell-Biddlecome Funeral Home, Seneca. No visitation is planned.  In lieu of flowers, Max requested donations to Christian Aid Ministries or Still Waters Ministries in care of the Campbell-Biddlecome Funeral Home, PO Box 380, Seneca, MO 64865.
