Barbara Brake

Barbara Brake, 79, Seneca, MO, passed into eternal rest December 8, 2025 in Seneca surrounded by her family.

Barbara Von Stiers was born May 19, 1946 in Minneapolis, KS, the daughter of Austin Edward and Arlene Von Stiers.

Barbara Von Stiers married Dennis Leroy Brake June 23, 1961 in Minneapolis, Kansas and he preceded her in death. She loved to scrapbook, reading, studying her bible and listening to church services online. Barbara loved spending time with her family and hosting the holidays for her family. She was a homemaker, formerly worked for Oxford Home Health Care and the Seneca Home Place. Barbara was a faithful member of the Racine Apostolic Church.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Cari Lynn Brake Ryan, one son, Denny Douglas Brake and her siblings, Bud Von Stiers, Betty Semen, and Jewell Bretches.

Survivors include one son; Gordon Brake and wife Lou Ann, Seneca; one daughter; Angela Howe and husband Dan, Seneca; 5 grandchildren, Maria Ryan McNeal, Amanda Howe, Alissa Gurley and husband Billy, Dennis Brandall Brake and wife Stacia and Tory Brake and wife Mindi; 11 great-grandchildren; 1great-great grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7pm, Wednesday, December 10, 2025 at the Racine Apostolic Church. Funeral service will follow at 7:00pm with Bro. Steve Epley officiating. Burial will be 10am,Thursday December 11, 2025 at the Burkhart Cemetery.
